The discussion was held ahead of ASUU’s threat of a strike if the Federal Government fails to follow through on the conditions of the deal they struck last year.

ASUU and the Federal Government have been at odds for a long time since the latter has failed to meet several of ASUU’s demands.

“I have heard so much about the government failing to follow the agreements with ASUU,” Sonny Echono, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, remarked during a meeting with the FG last year. I hold a different opinion because most of these agreements are flawed.

If someone comes to my house and holds a pistol to my head, I’m likely to sign anything because such agreements are signed under duress. If you try to impose obligations or responsibilities on them, they will tell you that you can’t.”

Almost Two Months later and a strike is imminent.
