LAUTECH Set To Be Renamed By Gov. Makinde (See New Name)

Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State, has begun the process of renaming the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) to Ladoke Akintola University (LAU).
Professor Oyelowo Oyewo SAN, the Oyo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, told journalists following the state executive council meeting at the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, on Tuesday.

This is in an attempt to turn the prestigious school into a traditional university.

According to him, the state government will send a bill to the Oyo State House of Assembly titled “Ladoke Akintola University LAU” modification bill.

This was done, according to Oyelowo, to accommodate courses like Law and humanities, among others.

BREAKING : SSANU , NASU Join ASUU, Begins Nationwide Strike

Following what it described as the failure of the Nigerian government to react to its letter earlier issued threatening to down tools, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and Non-Academic Staff Union of Allied and Educational Institutions (NASU) have declared a two-week warning strike.
