The University Of Lagos, [UNILAG], Has Launched A 24-Hour Transcript Processing Platform
Following a series of complaints from alumni of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, about the difficulties they face in obtaining their transcripts and the consequences such as lost opportunities, the institution’s management announced the launch of a 24-hour transcript processing platform (unilag 24 hour transcript).
According to the university, the new platform will allow for the transmission of student copies of electronic transcripts within 24 hours, and applications can be submitted through the students’ portal.
Many Nigerian universities graduates, including UNILAG, have long complained about the difficult procedures and delays in obtaining transcripts, which have forced many to forego opportunities that require the use of transcripts.

According to the university, over 40,000 applications have been successfully processed since the platform’s implementation.
The university also resurrected a task force tasked with resolving all issues relating to students’ results, according to a statement titled “Development of Efficient Transcript Processing” and shared with PREMIUM TIMES by the institution’s vice-chancellor, Oluwatoyin Ogundipe.
“In line with the university’s vision and determination to ensure that our esteemed alumnus enjoy a seamless procedure in the application for transcripts and other related documents, the vice-chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS, and management of the University of Lagos have deployed a more efficient platform that will facilitate the transmission and receipt of electronic transcripts within 24 hours,” according to the statement.
“In addition, graduates of universities can now request student copy transcripts instead of official transcripts.” This is accessible by submitting an application via the University’s student portal.
Once payment is received, the Student Copy transcript will be emailed to the applicant as an attachment.
“Management approved the full deployment of online processing and digital verification of transcripts, certificates, and other relevant documents in the first quarter of 2018.” Graduates can apply for transcripts electronically through the application portal (records.unilag.edu.ng). The portal is also accessible via the university website by clicking on records on the homepage. It is worth noting that over 40,000 applications have been successfully processed since 2018.
Results are processed more quickly.
UNILAG also announced that it has reached an agreement with the World Education Service (WES), a non-profit organization that provides credential evaluations for international students and immigrants planning to study or work in the United States and Canada, on the processing of e-transcripts and the automatic verification of results.
According to the terms of the agreement, all WES applications would be processed and completed within 48 hours.
Meanwhile, the university announced that it has approved the start of the third phase of the digitisation process, which will include the conversion of hardcopy student results to digital format in order to speed up the process.
How to Use
The university stated that all applications should be processed on a computer system using the Google Chrome browser, and that Tuesdays and Thursdays have been designated as visiting days for applicants who wish to visit the records office to resolve issues that cannot be resolved via email.
“You are expected to strictly adhere to the procedure for application to WES only,” the university stated, adding that “there are adequate feedback mechanisms to provide the status of the application at every stage to the applicants email while you can also track the status of the application via the portal.”
